A client in the highly competitive IT services industry recognized an opportunity to steer their business into a new and potentially lucrative segment. Having performed an initial market study they engaged SPConsulting to assist in the design and implementation of a strategy to achieve their wanted position.
SPConsulting's strategy team worked with senior management to translate their vision into a set of realistic and measurable objectives that would be key to their success in this initiative. One of the key challenges in this case was that different country units within the organization were operating in markets of different maturity levels, which required careful consideration. The agreed objectives were further refined into critical success factors, specific activities required to achieve each objective at a level that could be mapped directly to new or existing functions within the organization.
Implementation of the new strategy, initially across 10 global markets, was then handled by SPConsulting's change practice with consideration to culture and the differing dynamics and situation in each country. This involved teams of our consultants travelling to each location on a periodic basis and working with the client’s local management, sales and operational staff.
A framework of measures was tailored to continuously evaluate the successful implementation of the strategy and to tune it as required. To provide an effective business steering mechanism this required consideration of internal and external factors as well as quantitative and qualitative measures.
Our client succeeded in achieving a leading position within the desired services segment which makes a significant contribution to their profits today.
